Plus a 14km cross-country trail through the Koppenwinkel Nature Reserve — starting almost from our front door — and a free ski bus included with your tourist tax and ski pass.
From hiking and mountain biking to paragliding and lake swimming, Obertraun turns into a summer playground the moment the snow melts. The Koppenwinkel Nature Reserve and Lake Hallstatt's bathing beach are both a short walk away.
Our house is approximately 6km from the UNESCO World Heritage town of Hallstatt — close enough to easily access, yet far from the hustle and bustle, so you can relax and unwind after an eventful day exploring. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997 as part of the Dachstein Salzkammergut Cultural Landscape, Hallstatt is also home to the world's first known salt mine, Salzwelten, mined for over 7,000 years.

Picks up at the "Reith/Spielplatz" stop, a few steps from our house — just €6 per adult.
Rent a bike in the village (~30 min ride) or take the scenic 1-hour lakeshore walk through Obertraun.
A 15-minute walk to Obertraun Koppenbrüllerhöhle station (May–Nov), then a scenic ferry across the lake.
Salt Taxi, Taxi Hallstatt and Gosauer Taxi all serve the area for a quick, direct transfer.
